Nothing Falls Through the Cracks: Tasks and the Calendar in Cattle360
Build a shared to-do list for the whole crew, schedule herd actions to run when they're due, and see every calving, sale, rotation, and task on one month-at-a-glance calendar.
Ask any rancher what's on the list for the week and they can usually rattle off half of it — preg check the fall cows, move the yearlings off the creek, get the sale steers weighed, call about the mineral order. The other half lives somewhere between a truck-seat notebook, a couple of text messages, and pure memory. That's the half that bites you: the paddock you left the herd on three days too long, the booster you meant to give, the calf you forgot to wean with the rest.
Cattle360's Tasks and Calendar features are built to get all of it out of your head and into one place the whole operation can see.
Tasks: One Shared List for the Whole Crew
A task in Cattle360 is simple to create — a title, a due date, a priority, and who's responsible. Assign it to yourself, a hired hand, or the whole crew, and add anyone who should be kept in the loop as a subscriber. Notifications go out when a task comes due and when it's marked done, so the right people know without you having to chase them down.
Tasks show up where you'll actually see them. The Dashboard calls out anything overdue or due today with attention cards, and lists what's coming up in an Upcoming Tasks panel. The full Tasks page gives you the complete list with priority, type, assignee, and status at a glance — open items by default, with a toggle to look back at everything you've finished.
Action Tasks: Schedule the Work, Then Run It in One Click
Here's where it goes beyond a to-do list. Most tasks are Standard — a reminder you check off when the job's done. But Cattle360 also has Action Tasks, and they're a different animal.
An Action Task carries a real bulk action against a specific set of animals, set up ahead of time. Say you know which calves you'll wean on the 15th. Select them today from a group, the animal list, or Animal Search, open Bulk Actions, and create an Action Task. When the 15th arrives, you open the task, review it, and click Execute — and Cattle360 records the weaning against every one of those animals at once.
Action Tasks can wean offspring, record a death or a sale, promote or demote animals, castrate bulls, update a sire or dam, or delete a set of animals. The key detail: they never fire on their own. An Action Task waits for you to execute it, and it won't let you run it before its due date. You stay in control — the software just holds the work, and the animal list, exactly as you set it up until you're ready.
The Calendar: Your Whole Operation, Month at a Glance
Tasks tell you what to do. The Calendar shows you when everything is happening — and not just tasks. It rolls up the key dates from across Cattle360 onto one month view:
- Tasks on their due dates.
- Calving Due — cows and heifers expected to calve, pulled from your breeding records.
- Sales — recorded animal sales, with head count and buyer.
- Pasture Maintenance — fertilizing, spraying, fencing, and the like.
- Rotation moves — both the herd moves you've already made and the next predicted move for each active grazing rotation, based on your target graze days.
On top of all that, each day shows rainfall logged for your pastures — so your moisture picture sits right next to your rotation schedule. A dry stretch before a paddock is due to move is a signal you can act on before you overgraze it.
Built to Fit How You Actually Work
Page through the months, jump back to today with one button, and use the filter chips to show only what you care about — just calving during calving season, just tasks when you're planning the week. The calendar even remembers which types you like to see. Click any day to open a full list of everything on it, and click any event to jump straight to where it lives — the calving screen, a pasture, the ledger, or the task itself.
Because the calendar is a live roll-up, you never enter anything twice. Record a breeding, log a sale, set up a rotation, or create a task, and it shows up on the calendar automatically. Keep your records current and the calendar stays current with them.
Tips to Get the Most Out of Tasks and the Calendar
- Write it down the moment you think of it. A ten-second task beats a forgotten job every time.
- Assign and subscribe deliberately. The right people get notified when a task is due and when it's done.
- Use Action Tasks for known future herd work. Line up the weaning or the sale against the animals now, execute with one click later.
- Check the dashboard cards daily. Overdue and due-today counts keep the important things from slipping.
- Read rainfall next to your rotation moves. The calendar makes the connection obvious.
Between a shared task list, scheduled herd actions you run on your own terms, and a calendar that gathers the whole operation onto one screen, Cattle360 helps make sure the jobs in your head become jobs that actually get done — on time, by the right person, without the notebook.
