From Breeding Season to Calving Day: How Cattle360 Tracks It All

Breeding season is one of the most important — and most chaotic — stretches of the year. You're tracking which cows were exposed, who the sires are, when calves are due, and which cows haven't settled.

Cattle360's Breeding and Calving pages are built to handle the entire reproductive cycle in one connected system — from the day a bull is turned in to the day a calf hits the ground.

The Breeding Page: Where It All Starts

The Breeding page is your command center for breeding season. It shows every eligible female in your herd and lets you create breeding records individually or in batches.

Select one or more cows from the list and click "Add breeding to animals" to create breeding records in bulk. Once saved, the system automatically sets the cow's breeding status to Exposed and calculates an expected due date (breeding date + 283 days).

For AI breedings, Cattle360 opens up a full set of detail fields: semen details, technician info, heat detection, sync protocols, procedure details, semen handling, and costs.

Pregnancy Checks: Confirming Who Settled

Record preg check results right on the breeding record — check date, result (positive/negative), method (ultrasound, palpation, blood test), days pregnant, and notes. A positive result automatically updates the cow from Exposed to Pregnant.

The Calving Page: Your Due-Date Dashboard

The Calving page shows every cow with an active breeding record, with visual indicators for Watch Close, Confirmed Pregnant, and In Heat. Click Actions on any cow to Add Calf (pre-filled from the breeding record) or mark No Calf.

The Full Lifecycle

Every piece links together automatically: breeding record → pregnancy confirmation → calf born → offspring linked to dam and sire. After calving, the cow's status resets to Open, and the cycle starts again.

• Record breedings the day they happen. The due date calculation depends on it.
• Use the "Watch Close" flag generously during calving season.
• Batch-select cows for breeding records.
• Close out failed breedings with "No Calf."
